Luminosity Dependence of the Quasar Clustering from SDSS DR5
نویسنده
چکیده
46990 objects, which were primarily identified as quasars in SDSS DR5 and have spectroscopic redshifts were used to study the luminosity dependence of the quasar clustering with the help of two different techniques. The obtained results reveal that brighter quasars are more clustered, but this dependence is weak, which is in agreement with the results by Porciani & Norberg [1] and theoretical predictions by Lidz et al. [2].

Quasar Clustering from Sdss Dr5: Dependences on Physical Properties
Using a homogenous sample of 38,208 quasars with a sky coverage of ∼ 4000deg2 drawn from the SDSS Data Release Five quasar catalog, we study the dependence of quasar clustering on luminosity, virial black hole mass, quasar color, and radio loudness. At z < 2.5, quasar clustering depends weakly on luminosity and virial black hole mass, with typical uncertainty levels ∼ 10% for the measured corre...
متن کاملThe Luminosity Dependence of Quasar Clustering
We investigate the luminosity dependence of quasar clustering, inspired by numerical simulations of galaxy mergers that incorporate black hole growth. These simulations have motivated a new interpretation of the quasar luminosity function. In this picture, the bright end of the quasar luminosity function consists of quasars radiating nearly at their peak luminosities, while the faint end consis...
متن کاملPredictions of Quasar Clustering: Redshift, Luminosity and Selection Dependence
We show that current clustering observations of quasars and luminous AGN can be explained by a merger model augmented by feedback from outflows. Using numerical simulations large enough to study clustering out to 25 comoving h−1 Mpc, we calculate correlation functions, biases, and correlation lengths as a function of AGN redshift and optical and X-ray luminosity. At optical wavelengths, our res...
متن کاملClustering Analyses of 300,000 Photometrically Classified Quasars–i. Luminosity and Redshift Evolution in Quasar Bias
Using∼300,000 photometrically classified quasars, by far the largest quasar sample ever used for such analyses, we study the redshift and luminosity evolution of quasar clustering on scales of ∼50 h kpc to ∼20 h Mpc from redshifts of z̄ ∼0.75 to z̄ ∼2.28. We parameterize our clustering amplitudes using realistic dark matter models, and find that a ΛCDM power spectrum provides a superb fit to our ...
متن کاملThe Deep2 Galaxy Redshift Survey: Clustering of Quasars and Galaxies
We present the clustering of DEEP2 galaxies at 0.7 < z < 1.4 around quasars identified using both the SDSS and DEEP2 surveys. We measure the two-point cross-correlation of a sample of 36 opticallyselected, spectroscopically-identified quasars from the SDSS and 16 more found in the DEEP2 survey with the full DEEP2 galaxy sample over scales 0.1 < rp < 10 h −1 Mpc. The clustering amplitude is foun...
